How we were born
Talent on the Move was originally established to bridge the gap in the migration solutions for those skilled migrants seeking to self-initiate a migration to Australia to implement a new lifestyle overseas.
Talent on the Move was born out of Charlotte’s own global journey. In 2016 when she and her recent husband set their mind on moving to Australia after working 5 years, they trialed all the options to move there in the best conditions. They first investigated the job assignment path with both their companies which turned out to be unsuccessful. Companies have cut down on their global mobility programs and are more likely to be recruiting locally than to be sending their employees abroad. They searched for a job from offshore which was incredibly difficult without knowing the labour market and knowing how to position themselves, without an adapted career toolkit and the right network in place, and finally without knowing both the companies and those who are open to sponsoring foreign skilled migrants within their respective industries. They ended up quitting their comfortable full-time jobs and moving to Australia job-less, giving themselves 6 months to find jobs. They managed to get both sponsored within 3 months on the ground. They found the whole process a lot more challenging than they’d anticipated, and noticed that many migrants – from junior to senior levels – ended up sacrificing parts of their project’s key criteria, or even giving up.

Self-initiated migration can feel daunting and stressful if conducted on your own, and can be unsuccessful if you are not properly informed and guided. With an employment network at the core, and added services in the immigration, job search and relocation space, self-initiated migration can be unlocked, and the option to move overseas, accessible. There is no ne size-fits-all approach, which is why we believe an integrated and individually-customised approach is the only way to make it possible.
